Nissan Camry? Wow, I knew the Japanese auto industry worked together, but I missed that one entirely... ;)

John, just making sure you know we read your stuff!

OK, back to musing on our frame repairs... :(

Hey John,

How are our guys in the #99 doing? Hate missing the weekend after already being down there yesterday and cant tear myself away from the computer today looking for updates.

And glad you got some time in before you had to split for the weekend! Safe trip!

In the end, the G.I.SHO #89 earns a great, hard-fought and deserving win.

Overall, the #77 EC Spec Miata finished second; however, as an EC car, there is no official finish.

Second in ChumpCar was issued to car #47 (Rotary Power)... however, at post-race inspection, it was noted that the car was shod with TOYO RA1 tires (less than 190 TW). Therefore the #47 car was DQ'd.

So... second place is awarded to car #95, Lightning McChump (Neon).

Third place goes to polepositionracing and the #70 MR2.

Congrats to all.

Holy cow, that was a LOT of racing action out there. There were battles all across the 59 car field for positions at one point or another. 20th, 21st, 22nd, 23rd, 24th, etc were fighting one another just as hard as 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.

RAW Lap Times Here for Saturday's 7 Hour:

hope that works for you all.

Tomorrow I'll attempt to keep the forums updated along with the rest of my duties.

Have a g'night!

The next time you make a mistake, remind me to hand you a copy of this post..

yes sir, i will if my feeble memory permits that John.

apparently these guys didn't know the difference? complete track noobs that went to the TireRack website and said to themselves "hey lookee here them's got DOT legal competition tires (whatever they are)let's buy those."

if you feel there was no malicious intent John then please forgive my unwarranted accusations. B)

I understand that mistakes get made but the "Oh we didn't know" line is bull cookies. Regardless of how the rule was broken it was still broken. Enforce the rules and the "I didn't know" excuse will soon go away.

Seriously, the two most obvious rules in crapcan racing is the $500 rule and the tire tread wear rule. This makes me wonder if a team had an oversight with one of these rules then what else did they miss?

Well, for one, they missed their podium position. I agree with John's approach here, and expect that their car will be carefully scrutinized next time out. I suspect that the goal here is to modify behavior without flaming the guys into submission, and never having them turn up again.

I was going to run some 300TW on the right, and 2 100TW on the left side. Average out to 200, should be good right?

I like this one. It would be a hot setup if Chumpcar ever gets Road Atlanta.

Today, the Green Flag flew at 9:06 AM after a slight delay waiting for the Medic to arrive on site. 48 cars took the green flag, with a few more languishing in the pits after yesterday's carnage. Last night was very active in the pits. At least 1/2 the field had to do "something" to the cars to get ready for the day.

Some good close racing this first hour, in the rain. Lap times are slower, drivers are playing it safe and not trusting their tires to stick to anything. Good thing, cause they won't...

Updates to follow!

LOTS of passing under yellow and buzzing the safety truck has shaken up the leader board. Apparently a warning was not sufficient for an initial infraction, thus some drivers are now spectators for the day. Still some really close racing. 4 laps separate the top 10 positions, and more.
