roadracer4life
Curious if anyone has used the holley hydromat mount kit? https://www.holley.com/products/fuel_systems/hydramat/hydramat_install_kits/parts/16-202 It appears to use superglue to mount to the bottom of plastic fuel cell and I'm curious how well you guys think this will work? In the past I packed the entire 22 gallon cell with fuel cell foam to hold the hydromat down but it takes up so much volume that I am only able to hold 18.5 gallons. Any thoughts or ideas? Thanks -Sam
55mini
Sam I tried this very same kit on our cells with limited success. The key I think is making the surface of the plastic cell ruff enough for the epoxy to grab. First attempt only one held so went to 80 grit to make if ruff and then seemed to hold. Had done the pack with foam as well and it worked for some races but would eventually move. I also finally made the pickup out of steel tubing to the exact length to hold the pickup at the bottom. Holley also can't get the hardware packaged right in there kits, took me four to get one complete set
jakks
Can’t you use magnets? epoxy one on the underside.

Thanks -Sam I read that you should be filling the tank with foam anyway. Something about reducing explosion risk.

I hope you forgot the green font. All fuel cells need to be filled with the proper foam. It’s a requirement for SFI rating them. mender
I bought a bunch of rare earth magnets to secure my fuel tank pickup in my stock steel tank but haven't tried them yet. Very powerful! Edited April 21 by mender

Maybe I can remove some of the foam? my 22 gallon cell pumps out to 18.3 gallons. I need to find that volume somewhere or get a bigger cell and put displacement balls in it i guess. -Sam
Wheelman_99 - C Rallo
How much is left in the bottom after the pump out? That seems extreme. How much are you packing the foam in?

If your cell is truly 22 gallons the foam should take up .88 of a gallon.

How much are you packing the foam in? its dry after pump out. Maybe 1 or 2 cups at the bottom. The foam covers 80-90% of the inside of the cell. Maybe it depends on the foam. I did not purchase this foam so I can not tell you the brand but maybe some foam is more dense than others? Part number says 22 gallons
enginerd
Fuel cells are notoriously inaccurate on capacity. On the other end of the spectrum, my 22gal actually holds close to 23 and has caused me some headache getting enough displacement blocks in there to get down to 18.6

So last night I put the cell back together with only 2 blocks of foam instead of the 10+ blocks that was in before. No better. Still only able to fill 18.5-18.8 gallons. Very disappointing but I guess I can say I tried. I guess a bigger tank might be in store for us. -Sam

Even taking the inside dimensions there's no way it would be 16.
