Hey there Chumps!

Your Western Region Chump Team is here near Gateway this evening enjoying the overnight low of.. oh.. 85 or something :P. Clearly, it's going to be a hot one!

We're all a little travel worn this evening catching up on some random sleep patterns. Up at 3AM to catch flights will do that, but anything to bring a superior racing series to your door, is worth it!

We'll see you tomorrow for Vehicle Tech, Gear Tech, Registration, Payment Resolution, Novice School, and track WALKS (non-lead, non-motorized, non-inebriated)!

Take it easy, and hydrate well starting...... NOW!

With less than an hour remaining in Tech and Registration, we're proud to see such variety in the field!

In case you aren't tired of hearing it yet -- it's hot. 106-ish in the shade. As a matter of fact, take a look at a heat map of the entire continental US. The only place that isn't hot, is the pacific northwest. Why did we leave? Oh right, to put on an awesome race here just outside of St. Louis!

The competition looks stout in this field, so everyone's anxious to get going early. Or, it could be the heat. At any rate, the race start time for tomorrow has been advanced up to 07:30 AM -- an hour and 1/2 earlier, to try and beat some of the heat. Race end is now 2:30pm, rather than 4. We'll still have our BBQ, it'll just be more lunch-ish than dinner-ish.

I see Team Egg Boy has just finished their track walk and are headed back to their garage to towel off.

As always, live timing will be provided tomorrow, so tune in at www.chumpcar.com/livetiming.php or on your mobile device with "Race Monitor." You can find it in your respective "app store" for windows phone, iphone, android, and.. not that anyone in this country uses one, Nokia Symbian.

See you all tomorrow morning bright and early. Gates open at 6. Driver's Meeting at 7. Green-Flag 7:30.

Dirty Escort's new car, the #36 Little Lamb-orghini will be leaving Evansville, IN at 3:30AM en route for Gateway. Only 4 out of 12 cylinders are currently functional... (apparently you really do need submersible rated fuel hose for those internal fuel pumps) but we should be able to make it on 4-cylinders! Hate that we won't be racing this one, but at least we'll have a front row seat lending a hand with pit in/out, or whatever else we can do to be useful..

Great job today, that was a smooth Tech and Registration!

Track was a little warm, we've unofficially renamed this race the Great American Meltdown.

I doubt many teams will check the forums tonight . But if you do it looks like I lost my ride for at least Saturday due to mechanical issues. if anyone needs a driver last minute I have 70 days of track experience and Gateway is my home track.I will be at the driver meeting in the morning; ask Cathy who I am, if you're interested

Bright and early for your Western Region Team. Gates open at 4AM, Race Start at 5:30AM -- er.. wait.. that's West Coast time. Gates were open at 6 AM, and Race Start is 7:30AM.

A few teams are reporting to grid early -- good idea seeing as how we've about... oh.. 5 minutes between the end of driver's meeting and Green Flag :).

See you at the driver's meeting in about 12 minutes!

As always, live timing is available in the usual places :).

What a great day of racing in absolutely blistering heat! Obviously the extreme conditions took a toll on many cars and teams, hope to see as many cars take the green as possible tomorrow!

Taking the checker today with my boys watching has been the highlight of my short racing career. Thanks again ChumpCar for this awesome opportunity!

Sunday Sunday SUNDAY, at the motorsports complex.

ChumpCar World Series, Mid-America MELTDOWN!!

Bone shattering excitement.

Ear piercing bearing squeal.

Face melting heat.

Just 10 bucks. JUST 10 BUCKS!!

We'll sell you the whole seat, BUT YOU'LL ONLY NEED THE EDGE!

Be there, NOW!

After an hour of racing this morning, we've got Kentucky Spirits' cars in 1st and 2nd, and Buzzsaw #18 in 3rd, a Dodge Neon.

Very clean so far this morning, although Car 18 did have a spectacular off-and-on incident involving no one but themselves. Excited chumps on an exciting day.

The chumps have found at least 3 seconds a lap they left on the track yesterday. The average lap times across the field are all quite a bit quicker than yesterday. Even the fastest lap of the day is quicker, and we're only 1.5 hours in. The heat is starting to crank up and we'll be seeing the cars slow a bit with the hot air in the intake, and behind the wheel :).
