video from #187

What was the explanation from the driver that hit you?

They have not mentioned it nor came over to see if our driver was ok after race ended. I think they are in some kind of "witness protection program" because no one will say who they are. I would really like to see video from behind us so I can see the incident from a different perspective.

Yes, it is a helmet cam. I honestly didn't see that in the rules. Regardless of that point it still shows our angle of what happened. We got hit, plain and simple, while driving the racing line. It was not a gentle tap either.

Helmet cam are not allowed, remember that for next time.

I got it now Kent. This was the first time I saw them. After I posted the video I went through the rules....again, and found that section (in red no less...I claim old eyesight). I will make sure they know not to bring that junk the next race they run (I think Nelson 12). That was my last race with the team I created 5 years ago. I am now a free agent while I make my move to Tennessee. Maybe I will continue to free lance after the move, who knows (of course if I have a big enough shop....)

Wow it is hard to excuse that sort of contact, unless one of two things happened: 1) the "offending" car had a catastrophic suspension or tire failure, or 2) the "offending" car was hit too and out of control. Short of one of these, I don't understand this apparent pit maneuver.

Yeah i was thinking the same. Hopefully that is the excuse because none of us want to be riding around at those speeds with "mayhem" on the track.

I never saw the helmet cam rule either.

going to the roll bar mount

I can think of a number of possible reasons. On top of egress, it might interfere with head motion (hit roll bar, etc), cause more flying debris in an accident when it whacks something and breaks off your helmet, adds more weight to your head causing additional fatigue, and it might be a distraction if you are thinking about 'getting the shot' when something is happening around you.

*edit* Stigdad posted faster than me. ignore...
