Vanquizor
I'd be interested to see anyone who got a view of the accident from behind... from the in car it looks like we just got flat out run over just as our driver was grabbing 4th gear. The driver's radio transmission after the incident pretty much sums it up... >http://youtu.be/uScJpe2_9YY
Racedad
Looks like a blue chevette @:30 if you pause it frame by frame, maybe he know's something.
Salna
The one account I've heard of the crash said there was a car hanging out in the rear left. The camera has a fisheye lens. Your car is further from the wall than one may think from that video. I wonder if the other car tried to pass on the left where the track suddenly widens to the left before turning into grass again. Vanquizor
Spoke with the Chevette driver after the incident, he seemed to think our driver took him out. I can't see that but I'd love to get a view from behind the incident. Its unfortunate we weren't running our rear view camera this week-end. Tubby
Sorry to see your car out of action. I told my family that if it were humanly possible to fix we'd see it back on Sunday. Noel is a talented madman.
pstrbrc
Hold on a sec.1. It's in an acceleration zone.2. you drive that cheaty-donkey over-horsed Neon.3. A CHEVETTE caught up to you??? Seriously, watching the vid, your driver was holding his lane. And at that, it's the overtaking driver's responsibility to make a pass happen, not the one being overtaken. Don't take crap off of chevette drivers. they're all c##ks.
WinkTimber
The Chevette driver claimed he was alongside the Neon, but it looks like he was in the blind spot. Having spoken to the Chevette driver, I have decided he is an donkey who wouldn't accept the responsibility.
Richard
No black flag for contact? The blue car simply drove into the back of the Neon because he misjudged the distance between the two cars.
mattbatson
I know that neon can boogie down the straights, and also wondered how a chevette could catch it there...Although the driver of the neon may have been new and maybe not as fast...so chevette could have just carried way more speed out of last corner....but still, damn, a chevette? Seriously? Motor swap?Anyways, neon was holding his line, giving racing room to others before the impact....all of the fault goes to the car that hit him....unless some other video shows something really amazing. If the car that hit the neon was all by himself and had no help with the crash....then that is pretty piss poor driving IMHO

Seriously? Motor swap? The Chevette has a Mitsubishi Turbo in it, so it moved pretty good. Sorry to see the Neon knocked out, I can't see any way that it could have been your driver's fault so I'm fairly certain that Winker nailed it. u-turn
Turbo kicked in on the Chevette and driver was caught by suprise? No excuse, just doesn't make sense. Glad the driver was ok.
Le Wrench
That sucks. you were booted in my opinion. Is this the neon that I heard was mid-engine? I'd to see pics of that. hope you can fix her. cheaty chevettes

I'd to see pics of that. hope you can fix her.cheaty chevettesYes neon was mid-engined, the chassis is toast- all 4 corners whacked, twist in the uni-body and some distortion of the cage. I don't have the skill to make it safe and I'm not sure it would be worth it at all so its getting stripped and going to the crusher. Not sure what the next build will be... I have other Neons and I also picked up the Omni that was for sale on here a while ago since I still have a soft spot for turbo dodges. We will see if I can keep my urge to build at bay till the new rulebook comes out... I'm only racing in 3 other series this year so that might be enough to keep my need for speed under control...

blackozone
The Chevette had a 4G63 from a 1st gen eclipse in it. Certainly more than the factory 8HP.
theamsoilguy
sounds like your car shifted and then got whacked, I say 99% the driver behind was way to close and screwed up, cant see it being your drivers fault. God I wish my 4g63 T was in a 1800lb car...now to hit the shop and drop 800LB
underdogg
Junkyard omni and turbo dodges cease to exist Noel... remember why we stopped playing with them?
JBgotM
Here's what I see from the video... After giving plenty of room for the faster cars to come through, he had a narrow entry into the corner meaning he couldn't carry full speed. Trying to put power down, the car wanted to step out and he had to modulate the throttle, thereby not exiting the corner all that fast. Track out on the normal line, go to grab 4th down the straight...bang. My interpretation...That was not a soft impact as it would be if one car just drifts over in front of another. That was a hard whack meaning there was a pretty good speed differential. Responsibility is with the passing car to make the pass safely. I saw no erratic line out of the neon suggesting he would have caused that. My understanding is that it was only the second green flag lap for Travis in a car he had never driven on a track he had never driven. I can't see where I would have done anything different.

Who is the driver? Is there any recourse for penalty or punishment after the fact?Man, there should be a rule that if you just punt a car and total it (imagine all those thousands of hours and dollars spent now gone) that you have to pay 500 bucks ....or something like that...
