Laguna Checkers BLOW'd Up

Just wondering if anyone has any video of our sorry little gold CRX #34 blowing the hell up just as it took the checkers at Laguna Seca? We were very happy to provide that thrilling moment for everyone.

Or any video of the numerous spins it enjoyed? (By OTHER drivers besides me!)

We finished.

And, we're probably finished. At least for a while. Until we figure out how to make a broken down CRX faster than that. Or, figure out what our next car will be. We are sorta stupid. We like that CRX. Just don't like getting thumped by everything all weekend. One of my drivers just decided to cruise and enjoy driving Laguna Seca and noticed you could see the ocean from the top of the corkscrew. The rest of us were flogging the piss out of the CRX to turn the 3rd slowest fast time of the weekend.

Still was fun though. And sure was a nice couple of days. And we met and talked with some nice people.

Had a great time.

So, yeah, any video would be cool if you have it.

You should have room to do an engine swap next year. The D16Z6 out of a 92-95 civic EX/Si should be a relatively easy swap and give you ~20 extra HP for only $50 of funny money.

(Assuming your running an 88-91 Si with D16A6).

Welcome to the "slow car that blows up but dang if we didn't have fun anyway" club!

It's still fun the second time too... after the third it gets less so.

If you know Honda motors and can build them reliably, the CRX is a great handling car that's good on fuel mileage.  20 ponies will go a long way :)

We all decided we hated DSMs too much to continue with the Laser, even though 2014 gave us a path to a dead reliable car with twice the horsepower.  Live and learn, it ain't $500 car racing anymore ;-)

Oh, that would be too easy.

1987 CRX si. Not as easy to modify suspension, not as many "racey" parts available, fewer things to swap. Right now it can have some 88 Integra stuff attached to it. Not much improvement. But, for some reason, we all seem to like the car and, wrongly I think, seem to believe we can make it a better car. Not to win, obviously. But if we could have run with the cars that were turning 1:56s at Laguna we would have had some cars to play with. Don't mean to sound like I'm complaining because we still had a ton of fun and we chose our car. Just voicing out loud that we may have to set aside this weird little car we like to have some people to play with at races.
